Puerto rican hat palm
Sabal causiarum
The Puerto Rican hat palm is a stately, slow-growing fan palm that thrives in warm coastal climates and tolerates salt spray and brief dry spells once established. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil and water regularly during the first year to encourage deep root development. This palm requires very little ongoing maintenance and makes an impressive landscape specimen in tropical and subtropical gardens.
