Swamp milkweed
Asclepias incarnata
Swamp milkweed is a native North American perennial and an essential host plant for monarch butterflies, producing clusters of fragrant pink flowers from midsummer to early fall. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in consistently moist to wet soils, making it perfect for rain gardens, pond edges, or low-lying areas. Cut stems back to the ground in late autumn and divide established clumps every few years to keep plants vigorous.
