Woolly burdock is a robust biennial or short-lived perennial that grows vigorously in average garden soil with moderate watering and full sun to partial shade. Its large, woolly leaves and thistle-like purple flower heads are excellent for attracting bees, butterflies, and seed-eating birds to the garden. It self-seeds freely, so deadhead spent flowers if you want to limit its spread, and enjoy its impressive architectural presence in wild or naturalistic garden settings.
