Balsamorhiza hookeri var. hookeri

Hooker's balsamroot is a rugged western native perennial valued for its cheerful yellow daisy-like flowers and deep taproot that makes it exceptionally drought-adapted once established. Plant in well-drained, sandy or rocky soil with partial to full sun and water only occasionally after the first season. It is best suited for naturalistic or xeriscape gardens and dislikes being transplanted due to its deep root system.
