Green-winged meadow orchid

The Green-winged Meadow Orchid is a terrestrial orchid that requires well-drained, nutrient-poor, alkaline soil and a symbiotic mycorrhizal relationship to thrive — making it very challenging to cultivate outside its natural habitat. Plant in a sunny to partly shaded meadow or rock garden setting and avoid fertilising, as excess nutrients are harmful. This species goes dormant in summer after flowering, so reduce watering and mark its location to avoid disturbing the underground tubers.
